The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination that is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology to provide admission to students in Master of Engineering degree programs. It is certainly one of the most sought after exam for graduates from engineering background, given the incredible career avenues which open up for students, post they clear the GATE exam.

Many of you rightly think GATE is for those who wish to go for higher studies, and with the surfacing of various universities on the map, a good GATE score can open ways to a successful career. There are two major options open to a student after he or she appears for GATE. One is to pursue a postgraduation course (M.Tech, ME, MS etc) from a reputed Institute. The second is to apply for a job in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) that recruit through GATE. These include ONGC, NTPC, Indian Oil Corporation, HPCL, BPCL, Power Grid, and many more.
